 TOP 50 HOKUM KAREM TIMES

Format: Hokum Karem style cross country races were begun by legendary Wabash College coach Owen Huntsman in 1961 and are now commonplace high school and college cross country competitions across the country. Hokum Karems are designed to provide runners with early season competition in a fun style relay format, with each 2-person team running multiple legs.

Each School gets 5 pairs of runners. Each runner will run three alternating one mile loops for a total of six miles. Total time will be recorded. Teams will be scored based upon the total placing of their top three finishing pairs. Girls will run with girls and boys will run with boys. Larger Schools can enter B Teams to allow participation for an additional 5 pairs of runners. B teams must be declared prior to the start of the meet, and if possible, have different uniforms to declare B teams. The relay format will be followed by a two mile co-ed open race.
