On Monday, the Dolphins followed up their victory at Bloom with two Illinois Prep Top Times qualifying performances at the Downers Grove Relays. The Dolphins started off the evening by placing the same foursome on the track that competed downstate in the 4 x 800 Meter Relay. They did not disappoint, as they finished the highly competitive race by placing third with an all time best indoor time of 9:41. That foursome, Maisie Vachuska, Rachel Joravsky, Lavinia Jurkiewicz, and Devyn Thompson, have qualified for the Illinois Prep Top Times Indoor Classic.
The
4 x 200 ran a seasons best on Monday, 1:51.9, but failed to reach their goal
of qualifying for the indoor classic, as a competitor from Lyons
inadvertently moved in from of one of our runners after she handed off.
The relay missed the qualifying mark by less than three seconds.
The 4 x 400 relay ran in heat four of six. Their entry time into the meet did not allow for them to gain entry into the fastest heat. The Dolphins ended up running 4:05 for the 4 x 400 relay, and placed second overall in their heat. The members of that relay were Rori Nalls (62.7 split), Maisie Vachuska (63.9), Devyn Thompson (61.3) and Raena Rhone (57.4). That relay is currently ranked 2nd in the state behind Batavia.
